End Time’s Signs

God makes it clear throughout Scripture the single sign signaling the end times is deception.  There are numerous passages which describe and detail the demonic deception descending down upon the end times apostate church taking all in its wake captive.  Unless, God had supernaturally delivered us from this deception, we too would be wallowing in its wickedness, willingly prepared, waiting for the Antichrist.  Jesus Christ our Amazing God and Savior gave deception as that sign pointing to His imminent return.

And as He went out of the temple, one of His disciples saith unto Him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!  (2)  And Jesus answering said unto him, See thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.  (3)  And as He sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked Him privately, (4) Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?  (5)  And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you: (6) For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.  Mark 13:1-6

All end time deception twists God’s holy, inspired, inerrant, infallible, preserved Word, the Bible, and always presents false Christs.  The false teaching always gives errant doctines about who Jesus Christ is and/or what He has done.  Within Christendom there are numerous divergences from the truth about Jesus Christ:  the Catholic and Orthodox churches present a Christ who is not sufficient to save, Mainline Protestant churches present a Christ who is not God the Son of God, the emergent church presents a Christ who is not holy and winks at sin; the contemplative church presents a Christ who is found in mystical musings rather than believing the message of the Gospel, relying upon God’s Holy Word and fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit in truth and light, the charismatic church presents a Christ who is found in extreme experience, and the rest of the neo-evangelical church presents a Christ Whose major concern is your wealth, position, dreams and unity with the other divisions within Christendom.  Two events planned this year highlight this end times deception that has captured the vast crowds of church goers.  Together2016 brings together all aspects of the apostate church to make their voices heard at the Capital Mall.  The presenters represent every branch of the apostate church.  The Gathering, meeting in Texas in September and set to be simulcast to churches throughout the country, brings these same apostates together in a solemn assembly to confess and repent of sin.   The men and women for both events represent those who have left the narrow way and are on the broad way that leads to destruction.  The only way for the visible church to turn from the way of death to the way of life is to repent of self-will and return to biblical submission to God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit, by believing the Word of God and obeying it.

Another sign that we are in the end times has to do with the acceptance of homosexuality and its spread throughout the populace.  There are a couple of passages from the Word of God that indicate this declension into perversion characterizes the world before Christ’s return.  Jesus described the end times in the following passage from Luke chapter seventeen.

And He said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and ye shall not see it.  (23)  And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them.  (24)  For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of Man be in His day.  (25)  But first must He suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.  (26)  And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man.  (27)  They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.  (28)  Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; (29)  But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.  (30)  Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.  Luke 17:22-30

Both populations that experienced God’s divine retribution were characterized by gross wickedness, despite the seeming normalcy of their daily lives.  The people of Noah’s generation were marked by depraved wickedness, while the people of Sodom and Gomorrha we captured by sexual perversion, most notably homosexuality.  The recent terrorist attack in Florida proves the truth of Christ’s statement for we see the wickedness of wanton murder and perverse sexual conduct.  Other passages that describe this wicked perversion during the end times are found in Jude and 2 Peter.

For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.  (5)  I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.  (6)  And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.  (7)  Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.  Jude 1:4-7

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.  (2)  And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.  (3)  And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingers not, and their damnation slumbers not.  (4)  For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;  (5)  And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;  (6)  And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;  (7)  And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:  (8)  (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) 2 Peter 2:1-8

From both passages we see that homosexuality is linked to damnable heresy.  It is indeed sobering to realize the incursion this perverted wickedness has made into the visible church.  The apostate church is being readied for the judgment of God when He pours out His wrath upon this wicked world system that rejects Him, His Son Jesus Christ, and His Holy Word, the Bible and instead embraces Satan and the Antichrist.

The final sign that we are in the end times has to do with the general character of humanity.  All manner of wickedness is acceptable, but holding to godliness, the Word of God, and biblical faith in Jesus Christ is considered to be evil.  This is the situation where evil is called good and good called evil; God warned about this inversion in Isaiah, and said woe to the nation that does such a thing.  We are given a comprehensive list of ungodly character and behavior in 2 Timothy chapter three.

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.  (2)  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, (3) Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, (4) Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;  (5)  Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away…. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;  (4)  And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 & 2 Timothy 4:3-4

Does turning away from the truth lead to reprobate minds or does wickedness turn one from following the truth?  We have seen the wholesale abandonment of the Word of God for the drivel of man.  The pristine purity of God’s glorious Word is paltry pabulum to men and women of depraved minds, deluded by their fleshly hearts, deceived by the devil.  The popular media of our day highlights those of mean and corrupt character and sets them up as examples to be emulated.  This wickedness portrays the end times in which we live.

It is true that we live in the deception, depravity, and degradation of the last days.  Jesus warned us about the treacherous evil prevailing during the end times.  These are the end time signs of depravity ruling within the world before the return of Christ, auguring the celestial and terrestrial signs that point to Christ’s return.  May we gladly be ready for Christ’s return and joyfully live for His praise and glory until He comes for His beloved saints.  To the praise of His glory.  Amen!

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.  (29)  And He spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;  (30)  When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.  (31)  So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.  (32)  Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.  (33)  Heaven and earth shall pass away: but My words shall not pass away.  Luke 21:28-33

God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, may our hearts be ready for Your return for Your called out ones, and Your return in glory.  May we be living epistles of Your love and mercy to all those around us for Your glory as we share the gospel in faithful obedience to Your Word.  Amen!

    You make excellent points here.

A Christian brother encouraged me with Luke 21.28 recently. I’d like to pass the same verse on to you:
“And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” (Luke 21:28)

    Kretzmann’s commentary is particularly encouraging:

When there is a beginning of all these things, when these tokens begin to be fulfilled. The events upon which the children of the world will gaze with helpless terror should be for the believers a voice awakening in their hearts the most joyful hope and expectation. The heads which have so often been bowed under all manner of misery and persecution should now be lifted up in happy anticipation of the final, glorious deliverance. This admonition Jesus tries to impress by means of a parable. No matter what tree may be chosen for an example, for instance, the fig-tree, the same truth holds good of all of them. When they put forth their leaves, all ordinary people that are acquainted with trees at all immediately known, without further demonstration, that summer must be near. In the same way the believers, seeing these signs which are to precede the coming of Christ to judgment fulfilled, conclude and know at once that the kingdom of God is near, that the final revelation of the Church of Christ in the glories of heaven will take place, that the believers in Him will enter, from the trials and tribulations of the Church Militant into the everlasting bliss of the Church Triumphant. “Therefore let us also learn this art and new language and become accustomed to it, that we may be able to picture these signs before us in such a comforting way, and look upon them and judge them according to the Word. For if we follow our reason and wisdom, we can do nothing but become terrified and flee before them. For our reason does not like to see things appear dark and unpleasant, that it lightens and thunders, that it roars and is noisy, as though everything would be turned topsy-turvy. But a Christian should pay no attention to that, but take hold of the Word, with which He wants to open our eyes and explain how He means it, as though we were approaching the beautiful summer-time, and as though there were nothing but beautiful roses and lilies that bloom to delight the eye, and that nothing but joy and delight will come after this abominably evil way and misfortune in which we now are ”

    God strengthen you.

You have rightly assessed the times in which we live. Yes, the increase in perversion and the rampant deception are key factors in the end times; it means we are nearing horrific judgment. Everyone is doing what is right in their own eyes and no one cares about God’s law, which points sinners to sin.

This brief sermonette by Samuel Davies is just as relevant today – http://www.gracegems.org/Davies/sins_of_our_country.htm

Yes, our Redeemer is coming! Are we being watchful? Are we on high alert? Are we living each day as though it may be our last? Are we urging sinners to flee to Christ? There isn’t much time….
