Jesus Christ is literally God with us, both upon this earth as He trod this sod, and with us by His Holy Spirit.  God’s Word promised that He would be with us through His Son Jesus Christ.

Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel.  (15)  Butter and honey shall He eat, that He may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.  Isaiah 7:14-15

And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.  (22)  Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,  (23)  Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.  (24)  Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:  (25)  And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called His name JESUS.  Matthew 1:21-25

Jesus Christ is God; we can trust all that He has told us.  He declares the beginning from the end and reveals the truth to us.  That is His promise expressed for us through His prophet Isaiah.

Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside Me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside Me.  (22)  Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.  Isaiah 45:21-22

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like Me, (10) Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure:  Isaiah 46:9-10

God has declared the beginning and the end to us in His Holy Word the Bible.  Why should we listen to fallen man and his vain opinions?  They can only give educated guesses because no one was present during Creation.  The Creator, He has told us what has occurred when He created the universe and the earth.

Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.  (22)  Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.  (23)  Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.  (24)  Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of naught: an abomination is he that chooses you. Isaiah 41:21-24

Only God, omniscient and omnipresent, sovereignly ruling overall can declare to us the past and proclaim to us the future.  Since Jesus Christ is God with us, He tells us about the beginning and the end.  We can rely on and trust in what Jesus Christ has declared in the New Testament about Creation, since He is the Creator.  He is God.  He created all that we see.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  (2)  The same was in the beginning with God.  (3)  All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made.  John 1:1-3

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son:  (14)  In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins:  (15)  Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:  (16)  For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him:  (17)  And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.  Colossians 1:13-17

So what did Jesus Christ, our Immanuel say about Creation in the gospels?  Did He allude to a chaotic world destroyed through the fall of Satan?  Did He indicate a world that had been recreated?  We should quote His very words from the gospels to know the truth about Creation.

And He answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that He which made them at the beginning made them male and female,… Matthew 19:4

But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. Mark 10:6

For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.  Mark 13:19

Notice that Jesus Christ refers to the beginning, in which God created them male and female.  That is the very Word which initiates the opening verse of Genesis chapter one, “in the beginning”.  Why didn’t Jesus say, after God recreated the world He made them male and female.  He didn’t because there is no such thing as a gap between Genesis verses one and two; it is a man-made theory dreamed up to reconcile the theories of man with the declarations of God in His Holy Word.  It is a perversion of truth, these long ages have been dreamed up to accommodate long ages proposed by “Christian geologists during the late 1700’s and early 1800’s.  It is particularly distressing that these proposed long ages  fit in neatly with Darwin’s theory of evolution, which came later.  The gap theory distorts the Word of God regarding His sovereign supernatural creative act.

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.   Hebrews 11:3

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.  Revelation 4:11

God in His Holy Word lets us know that creation was for one purpose, to prepare a world that could be inhabited by mankind, indeed by all living flesh, for His pleasure.  The account given in Genesis completely supports the others passages in the Scriptures that give God’s reason for creating all that we see.

For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; He hath established it, He created it not in vain, He formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.  Isaiah 45:18

Thus saith God the LORD, He that created the heavens, and stretched them out; He that spread forth the earth, and that which comes out of it; He that gives breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:  Isaiah 42:5

I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.  Isaiah 45:12

Additionally, God in His word gives no hint of an intermediate time period where He created the world, it descended into chaos, and then He recreated it.  Instead there are many verses throughout the Scriptures that speak of Creation accomplished once until His creation of the new heavens and earth.

Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.  (5)  Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?  (6)  Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; (7) When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?  Job 38:4-7

And saying, Where is the promise of His coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.  (5)  For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: (6)  Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:  2Peter 3:4-6

No mention of God recreating the earth to overcome its decent into chaos.  Most importantly, the first destruction brought upon the earth was the flood.  My brothers and sisters, it is immensely important that we always let Scripture interpret Scripture and check any doctrine through the careful study of God’s Word by the power of His Holy Spirit.

So how is it that men of God came up with the gap theory when it is clearly not taught in the Scriptures?  It came about through the undue influence of men who claimed to have that latest research and did not allow God’s Word to direct their thinking.  It came about through the machinations of Satan against God and His own.  For many years this theory held sway within the visible church until men of God did let God’s Word direct their thinking as they studied His Word by the power of the Holy Spirit.  I don’t care how many experts declare their ignorance as profound wisdom.   I will believe the Scriptures and never doubt what God has clearly declared in His Word, the infallible, inerrant, inspired, preserved Word given to us so that we may know the beginning and the end.  We don’t have to be like so many groping in the dark, hoping to understand life and its reasons.  We have Emmanuel, God with us, our beloved Savior Who has taught us His bright shining doctrine concerning Creation and why we exist.  He Created the heavens, the earth, and all living creatures so that we can know Him and love Him, for His pleasure.  We can believe what He has declared to us in His Word.  Why should we compromise the truth of Scripture to accommodate the empty teaching of fallen man?

God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that He is Lord of heaven and earth, dwells not in temples made with hands;  (25)  Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, seeing He giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;  (26)  And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;  (27)  That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after Him, and find Him, though He be not far from every one of us:  (28)  For in Him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.  Acts 17:24-28

Jesus Christ may we lay down our prideful imaginations and bow to the truth of your Scriptures.  Help us to encourage one another with Your Word and love.  May we be ever faithful and true to You.  Amen!

My response is on my blog. Notice in particular the photograph I included. It shows part of the Chemung Formation. It is made up of shale and sandstone, and can be anywhere from 300 to 1,000 ft. thick. According to your theory, this is not sedimentary rock at all — it is not the result of sedimentation. God just made it look like sedimentary rock. Morris and Whitcomb tried to explain it as a Flood deposit. I don’t think either explanation is plausible.
I also included links to a couple of posts on my old blog which dealt a little bit with the geological evidence.

Well, Bob, I will take what Jesus Christ stated over what any man has stated at any time. This is all part of the end time deception that is preparing many to embrace the antichrist. Discredit Creation, discredit the Scriptures, discredit the work of the Holy Spirit so that the spirit of Antichrist and the beast, himself, can fill in the void left by rejection of the truth.

So, let’s think this through carefully. First, you must admit that God created both the universe, the earth and the living creatures with an appearance of age at the time of Creation. Second, you have to admit that cataclysmic events have occurred throughout history which have impacted the geology of the earth. In all instances, God is the source of what we see, not impersonal undirected forces, according to His Word.

My disagreement with you is always the same, Bob, no matter the context. I believe God’s Word, while you are always disputing God’s Word. One of us is right, one of us is wrong. I will trust God’s Word over you anytime. Amen!

I am not discrediting Scripture. I am not discrediting creation. I am not discrediting the work of the Holy Spirit. And I most certainly do believe that cataclysmic events have occurred throughout history which have impacted the geology of the earth. (I mentioned one in my blog). What I am discrediting is your interpretation of certain passages in which you are reading into the text what you want to find. As for myself, I will go by what Moses actually wrote.

        • Eliza says:

Which was given to him by the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ, Who was filled with the Spirit without limit said “In the beginning” He made them male and female. The opening verse of Genesis starts with “In the beginning”.

You are contradicting God’s Word, period. There is no intermittent period of time represented by the opening two verses of Genesis. This is something dreamed up by people who are eager to seem scholarly. When we allow the Scripture to interpret Scripture, which is rightly dividing the Word of truth, we find that there is no mention of a catastrophic destruction of the earth followed by a recreation anywhere in the Bible.

BTW: I wasn’t referring to you per se, I was referring to what is going on throughout the visible church at large. We need to be careful that we are not aligning ourselves with those who are misrepresenting the truth of the Word of God.

However, our disagreements have always been about what God has said in His Holy Word. You have always come over here to attack what I have written. Funny, I haven’t done that to you. As a matter of fact, I have always encouraged you with what you have said on your blog.
