As believers we rejoice that God has given us His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, because in Him we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Through Jesus Christ we have been delivered from the power of darkness and been brought into His kingdom. Through Jesus Christ we have the precious gift of grace through the One Whom God has given to us so we may experience the forgiveness of sins and be brought near to God as our Savior, Redeemer and Father. Without Jesus Christ each and every one of us would be sinners undone, under the dominion of Satan, and bound for God’s wrath because of our sinful rebellious transgression of His law and commandments. My beloved brothers and sisters where would we be without the glorious gift of our wonderful salvation given to us by faith in our risen and living Savior, Jesus Christ, who bore our sins in His body on the tree, taking the judgment we deserve so that we can reconciled to God being born again to a living hope which resides in the truth we have learned about Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior from the glorious Word of God, the Bible. Paul lays out for the Colossians and all believers the magnitude of mercy and grace given to us through Jesus Christ our God and Savior.
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother, 2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, 4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints, 5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; 6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and brings forth fruit, as it does also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth: 7 As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellow servant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ; 8 Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit. 9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; 12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son: In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Colossians 1:1-14
As Paul revealed to the Colossians, they received the grace of God when they heard the truth of the gospel given to them by Epaphras and then believed, the gospel bearing fruit in their lives. Without the truth of the Word of God we cannot know the certainty of the things that we have believed. This is the very remark with which Luke opened up his gospel given to Him by the Holy Spirit to write. He was led by God to write the very words in the gospel book bearing his name because God wants us to know for certain the truth of the things that we have believed for our edification and work of sharing His truth with others like Epaphras did with the Colossians.
1 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, 2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; 3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, 4 That thou might know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed. Luke 1:1-4
God’s Word has been written and preserved throughout the ages so we may know the certainty of the things that we have believed. Many, along with Luke, set about to give an orderly declaration of those prophecies fulfilled within their midst by Jesus Christ as He fully fulfilled all the will of God. These God given declarations about Jesus Christ, His work and words, have been carefully, exactly written and preserved for us in the Bible perfectly through God’s divine superintendence. God preserving His infallible, inerrant, inspired Holy Word must be the glorious outcome of God’s grace given to us, that He would carefully, powerfully, supernaturally, forever preserve His Word for the express purpose of declaring the truth about Jesus Christ who is given to us as our Redeemer and Lord through the precious gift of God’s grace to all who repent of their sin and believe in Him.
When sinners try to pervert the Word of God, the Bible, by discrediting the trustworthy text that God has used to preserve His Holy Word through His saints, the Received Text of the New Testament, and instead turn to spurious documents riddled with discrepancies and disagreements between and within themselves, the Alexandrian texts used by sinners to cast doubt upon the truth of God, then all manner of evil is sure to arise throughout the visible church and the world at large. My beloved brethren is this not what we see taking place? Think about the evil that has besieged that organization called the church, what a terrible tragedy.
The spurious text is spread abroad throughout the world through the modern versions of the Bible that have gained the ascendency throughout the visible church. These corruptions of the preserved Word of God, infallible, inspired and inerrant, spread doubt and strife among those who hold to these perversions of the truth. The adherents to these fallible and unsure “bibles” end up embracing any and all manner of lies, and ultimately deny the Lord Jesus Christ given to us for our salvation! Men, who presume to be elders, teachers, and present day scribes within the church cast doubt upon precious verses from the New Testament Scriptures and even dare to say such nonsensical things as “we don’t know for sure the actual words that Jesus spoke but know only the sense of those words”. My dear beloved brethren, I desire and plan to write more in-depth posts about this assault upon the truth of God by fallen men, led by the devil, in the near future, after I have done more research.
Here is a Psalm which declares God’s preservation of His truth and the destruction that abounds when it is denied and attacked by sinners. Please let us stay true to our God by staying faithful in reading His preserved Word given to us in the Byzantine New Testament manuscripts, and faithfully translated in the King James Version of the Bible. Amen!
1 Help, LORD; for the godly man ceases; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. 2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbor: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. 3 The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaks proud things: 4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us? 5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him. 6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever. The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted. Psalms 12:1-8
Lord Jesus Christ may we prove faithful to You holding fast that faithful Word that You have preserved for us Your children, Your saints. May we be faithful to tell others about You. Amen!
