Lying Liars Telling Lies

From studying our Bibles, we know who the liar is, the one who is the source of all lies, that would be Satan, the devil.  Jesus Christ pinpointed the source of all religious error to the devil, when He confronted the Pharisees and Sadducees, the Jewish leaders, about their rejection of Him.

41 “You do the deeds of your father.”  Then they said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father—God.”  42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me.  43 Why do you not understand My speech?  Because you are not able to listen to My word.  44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do.  He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him.  When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.  45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me.  46 Which of you convicts Me of sin?  And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me?  47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”  John 8:41-47

Many within the visible church warn against contemplative and post-modern influences upon the church, which is needed, but I believe there is a more insidious leaven working its destructive power within the church, and that would be ecumenism emanating from two well-beloved and well-respected “Christians”.  Then, to enhance the spread of this deception, two powerful branches of the visible church refuse to rebuke and warn against these two ecumenical false teachers.   Who are the two men who have done more to spread ecumenism within the Protestant church than any others?  What are the two branches of the visible church that refuse to rebuke and warn against these false teachers?  I want to warn against the heretics first and then the religious bodies second.

In the portion of Scripture above, Jesus stated emphatically that those who belong to God hear God’s words.  The contrary can then be true, as illustrated by His rebuke of the Jews, those who don’t hear God’s words, the Holy Scriptures, are not of God.  If they refuse the truth of the Bible that means they are embracing the lies of the devil and belong to him.  The most notable earmark of a false teacher is they contradict the inspired, inerrant, infallible, preserved Word of God, the Holy Bible; they don’t believe the Bible to be the wholly inspired, inerrant, infallible, preserved Word of God, and therefore they believe it is not the truth, even though they may pay lip service to the Scriptures.

We can read what Jesus Christ, our glorious Lord and Savior had/has to say about the Bible, and couple that with the Holy Spirit speaking through Paul to confirm that the Bible, the Holy Scriptures, is the Word of God.

17 Sanctify them by Your truth.  Your word is truth.  John 17:17

14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.  16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness , 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.  2 Timothy 3:14-17

First I want to reveal the false teacher whose false teaching has led to more and more ecumenism within the visible church.  It is best to look at his false doctrine and then reveal the name of this false teacher.  Now the false doctrines this man believed and taught can be found in two of his famous books.  He believed in baptismal regeneration, purgatory, salvation for followers of other religions if they followed those parts of their religion that conform to Christianity, that people could be saved without conscious repentant faith in Christ, that the Bible is not the inspired, infallible, inerrant, preserved Word of God (he taught the Genesis account of the fall to be a good myth and believed in theistic evolution) and that every “branch” of Christianity is legitimate and to be followed according to your preference.   These aberrations can be found in his books Mere Christianity and The Problem of Pain, and, of course, the author is C. S. Lewis.  He greatly influenced two ecumenists, Chuck Colson, of ETC fame, and Peter Kreeft who wrote Ecumenical Jihad.  Both of these ecumenists credit Lewis with leading them in the way of ecumenism.  Since this is such a deadly error, why haven’t the leaders of the evangelical movement spoken out against Lewis and his false teaching?

They are enamored with his intellect and his so-called apologist work for the Christian faith.  Funny though, in Lewis’s Mere Christianity he never quotes Scripture, how can you stand for faith in Christ and not quote His Word?  Reformed leaders within the evangelical movement are especially fond of Lewis and quote him all of the time.  R. C. Sproul had an edition of his Table Talk magazine devoted to Lewis.  John Piper credits Lewis with showing him the light in his book Don’t Waste Your Life, Paul Washer and his staff at HeartCry Missionary quote and promote the books of Lewis, and the leader of this movement purporting to be a conservation believer in Christ who says he believes the Bible (but on his website states that the Bible is the infallible, inerrant, inspired Word of God in the original manuscripts agreeing with liberal scholarship) when asked point blank whether or not Lewis was a Christian answered in the affirmative.  You cannot persuade me that these men, and especially John MacArthur, the one who said Lewis is a Christian, are not aware of the false teaching of Lewis.  They do know, but choose to wink at it by saying he was messy in his theology.  I had a back and forth email exchange with Phil Johnson purporting to believe the false teaching of C. S. Lewis, and he rightly rebuked me, even telling me that I wasn’t bound for heaven if I believed these things, and yet he refused to rebuke and expose Lewis.  These men are responsible for the spread of the ecumenical heresy throughout the visible church.  They are lying liars telling lies!

The second man I want to expose is responsible for physically bringing together evangelicals, Catholics, and modernists within his so-called evangelistic ministry without making a biblical distinction.  He had the heretic and apostate Bishop Pike open his 1959 crusade with prayer, even though Pike disbelieved the Bible and rejected faith in Christ, he had Malcolm Muggeridge as the featured speaker at the 1974 Congress on World Evangelization, even though Muggeridge denied the virgin birth of Christ and His sacrificial death for us upon the cross and resurrection from the dead, since his crusade in 1958 this “evangelist” has not called Catholics out of the apostate Catholic church leaving them to the wolves of the Catholic church after they have come forward to profess faith in Christ, and has been quoted as saying there is a wideness in God’s mercy so it isn’t necessary to repent of your sin and believe in Jesus Christ in order to go to heaven.   Of course, I am writing about that wolf in sheep’s clothing, Billy Graham, who is responsible for sending countless numbers to an eternity in hell fire because of his false ecumenical gospel.

Billy Graham exactly represents what Jesus Christ said to the Jewish leaders in John chapter eight.  His son, Franklin Graham not only approves of the ecumenical stance of his father, calling it the smartest thing his father ever did, but went one better than his father and had the Catholic Bishop David Zubik on stage leading in prayer at Grahams’ Three Rivers of Hope event in Pittsburgh, PA in August of 2014.  Father and son are false teachers leading the lost astray and bringing the saved into gross error.

42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me.”  John 8:42-45

Now surely the largest Baptist denomination in the world, the Southern Baptist Church, is well aware of Graham’s apostasy, and yet they do not rebuke nor warn against this false teacher.  On the contrary, they not only promote him, but they also promote Beth Moore who mixes ecumenism with contemplative spirituality and word of faith false doctrine, and receive Rick Warren who has signed a document equating the Muslim faith with faith in Christ, and calls Pope Francis “our Pope”, they sell all of his books.  The publishing arm of the SBC, Lifeway, should be called Deathway, since it promotes the works and ministries of these dangerous end-time ecumenical heretics.  The SBC is led by lying liars telling lies!

Dear believers, brothers and sisters in Christ, there is only one Person we must follow and that is Jesus Christ.  There is only one book that we need for spiritual growth and well-being that is the Bible.  If these leaders of “conservative” Christianity are our barometer for the degree of apostasy within the visible church, then it is well on its way to the formation of the one world end-time apostate whore prophesied in the Holy Bible.  If your church unquestioningly supports and follows any of these compromisers and/or apostates, maybe you should reconsider if the Lord truly wants you there.  We can rely on Jesus Christ to lead, guide, protect and fellowship with us as we look forward to His soon return.  God bless us.

18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know it is the last hour.  19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.  20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.  21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also. 24 Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning.  If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.  25 And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life.  26 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you.  27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.  1 John 2:18-27

Well said Eliza; you nailed it sister. “Dear believers, brothers and sisters in Christ, there is only one Person we must follow and that is Jesus Christ. There is only one book that we need for spiritual growth and well-being that is the Bible.” Brilliant, just brilliant! If ONLY those who say they are Christian would STOP following these celebrity types and stop their allegiance to man-made denominations. I read where Franklin Graham is pulling in close to a million dollars {source}, that’s close to what J. MacArthur makes as well {}. Funny, my bible says when the early church gathered and fellowshipped, those who had much sold what they had and laid that money at the Apostle’s feet, to be divided up among the poor. We sure don’t see that in our day do we?

As for the SBC, it’s just another example as to why we must shun man-made denominations/non-denominational ‘churches’. The Bible doesn’t command God’s people to become ‘members’ of brick and mortar buildings, for we ARE the church and we’re already members of the only church that truly matters – the church of our Lord Jesus. So many false teachings and demands have been birthed from outward religious Pharisees; men like Phil Johnson who are divisive and quite arrogant. May God protect us from such men.

Few have the courage to name names and expose the sin. Thank you.
You mentioned the ‘World Congress on Evangelization’ of 1974. I’m reasonably sure this was the birth place of the Lausanne Covenant whose (figure-head) leader was Billy Graham with John Stott being the actual force that put this lie together. With 2700 in attendance one can only imagine how many flavors of “Christianity” were present. There are many organizations that require it’s members to be in agreement with the tenets of the LC. One such group is called “Perspectives” which operates world wide. Recently, our (former) pastor invited Perspectives to the ‘church’ we were attending. I had never heard of them before so I did a little checking. After an hour or so of reading it became obvious this group was highly ecumenical, did not honor the Lord Jesus, and taught another gospel. The level of deception employed by this group was great, it was appealing on the surface, plausible in it’s ‘logic’ and presentation, presented itself as the answer to the church’s perceived lack of obedience to the “Great Commission”, and set itself up as the iconic standard for all future “evangelization.” One tell-tale thread should be observed by anyone who investigates their program; they always employ guilt as the motivating force to make people compliant. Secondly, Jesus Christ is never the focal point, even though His name may be spoken from time to time. His name is nothing more than the “hook” to lead about the uninformed and gullible souls and is used to lend “credibility” to the rest of the lies they speak.

The Lausanne Covenant has 15 parts, most short and to their point, and all with Scripture references. A quick and casual read will give the reader the impression that all is well and many will say ‘what’s the problem’. But adding a little Biblically based thought will reveal the social gospel nature of the entire document with some of the 15 parts falling off into dominionism. All in all, it’s one big fat lie, brought to us by Billy G and company.

Thank you, I can’t stand the fact that these people are getting away with spreading a general low opinion of God’s Word and a high opinion of man’s word throughout the visible church. They profess to love Christ, but by their deeds deny Him. God bless us.

  5. In these last days we are living in, The TRUTH of our Beloved LORD GOD’s WORD is shining forth everywhere. Truly evil men and impostors are proceeding from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived (2 Tim 3:13). There are hundreds of thousands of these false teachers around the world, those who belong to the church of Satan and professing to be who they are not (Rev 3:10, Rom 2:17-24, Isa 48:1-2). Yet if in obedience we know HIS WORD, stand in HIS TRUTH and make disciples of others by teaching HIS pure WORD to them; as promised, the elect will not be deceived since HE told us of this time we are now living in beforehand (Mark 13:22-23).

Thanks for standing up and telling the truth. The whole lump will be leavened with hypocrisy and false teachings says the parable of the woman (Mystery Babylon system) hiding leaven in three measures of meal. So it has to be before He returns and sets up His kingdom. It hurts to see the world be so deceived, but it does lie in wickedness, and the King did say that we would suffer with Him until He returns. They all are preaching another gospel, a brand of “good news” about Christ and not about His kingdom government coming very soon. You might be interested in reading the review I just did of Mere Christianity. I will probably follow it it next week with a review of Lewis’ view on politics. Feel free to delete the comment after you have read it — it was mainly intended for your own benefit.

  9. Eliza says:

No, I won’t delete your comment.

I do want to say that your conclusion shows where your error and the error throughout much of the visible Christian church lies. You, as well as so many, are willing to accept people as genuine believers in Christ based upon their nebulous confession that they have “put their faith in Christ”no matter what they believe about said faith. The fact that the doctrine of Lewis’ faith doesn’t match up with the doctrine of the Scriptures doesn’t seem to bother you or so many other “Christians”. Why is that? It is because most who claim to be Christian don’t know nor understand the truth of the Scriptures and are led about by a variety of beliefs that have a number of various origins outside of the Scriptures. This should be known as damnable heresy by all those who are filled with the Holy Spirit, who truly love God the Father and Jesus Christ His Son, and who reverence the Bible as God’s Holy Word,

Lewis is another leader of the tares who are with us to the end of the ages. God knows His own, and His own walk in the truth that is found only in the Holy Bible. May God bless us to discern between good and evil, and may we hold fast what is good and abstain from every form of evil.

      Hi Eliza,
Recently I read CS Lewis’s That hideous strength for the first time. While there is much to recommend his writing, I found myself more and more uneasy. Afterwards I kept thinking back on some of his other books such as The great divorce. At this point I wouldn’t recommend him to anyone. Whether he was or was not a Christian, I don’t know. But I do know that the 3 books of his that I’ve read contain doctrinal problems (Great divorce being the worst).

Haven’t yet read Bob’s review of Mere Christianity, but will take a look.

Given the aberrant beliefs of Lewis and the fact that he joined works with faith, I can confidently say he wasn’t a Christian. Here is a PDF that is quite eye-opening. May God bless us to be courageous in this wicked hour.

        • alec says:

Strong article, Eliza. The author John W. Robbins seems to capture the reason for Lewis’s popularity in American Christian circles here:

One explanation may be that American Evangelical circles are no longer evangelical. Modern Evangelicals, unlike the Evangelicals of the sixteenth century, either do not believe or do not emphasize the doctrines of sola Scriptura and sola fide, which historically are the distinctive doctrinal marks of an Evangelical.

What exactly are the “essentials” of the faith is something that is worth thinking about. We all err in many ways, the Scriptures tell us. Yet, there are some things which are “damnable heresies”.

          Dear Lord help us. Amen.

Have you read The Problem of Pain? When I was first discovering the aberrant theology of Lewis I spoke with a local pastor about Lewis. He said, “Don’t read The Problem of Pain, it is too hard to understand. In reality, it is exceedingly aberrant. It is in this book that Lewis calls the Genesis account of the Fall a “good myth”. So this proves that he did not believe in the inerrancy of the Scriptures, which is also proven in other books that he wrote. May God bless us to keep us from all deceivers.

        • alec says:

No, don’t think I’ve read that one. But the issue of whether a pastor or Christian teacher believes in a literal Genesis is really important. I was shocked a year or two ago to discover that a seemingly strong Christian I knew was a great follower and defender of a well-known evangelical teacher who holds to “theistic evolution”. This same Christian then told me it was “acceptable” because a medium-sized evangelical denomination said that it was okay to be a pastor in that denomination and believe it.

The celebrity pastor (and teacher) worship is really a terrible idolatry. But try saying that too loud in church. Not recommended!

Yes, we literally got kicked out of a local church a few years ago because I questioned Lewis. It started in private with the pastor, and when he seemingly agreed with me about Lewis then I spoke with others in the church in a small group meeting. That was explosive and worked out so that we had leave. Anytime we as believers make a stand for the truth we can expect fallout. Isn’t that what happened to Jesus and the apostles? May God bless us to be faithful and true to Him and not fear man.
