The Rapture: Part Five

Our blessed privilege and duty after we have been raptured is to be married to Christ as His wife during the marriage supper of the Lamb and then accompany our Glorious Victorious Redeemer and Judge when He comes to this earth to execute judgement upon all those who have rejected Him and instead worshiped and followed the Antichrist.

6 And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia!  For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!”  7 “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”  8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.  9 Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’”  And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.”  10 And I fell at his feet to worship him.  But he said to me, “See that you do not do that!  I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus.  Worship God!  For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”  Revelation 19:6-10

Throughout all time Jew and Gentile alike are saved only through the blood of the Lamb, both the regenerate believing church and Jews set apart to God through faith in Jesus Christ, the Savior; this relationship with God through faith in His Son Jesus Christ is likened to marriage in both the Old and New Testaments.

14 “Return, O backsliding children, “says the Lord; “for I am married to you.  I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.  15 And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.  16 Then it shall come to pass, when you are multiplied and increased in the land in those days,” says the Lord, “that they will say no more, ‘The ark of the covenant of the Lord.’  It shall not come to mind, nor shall they remember it, nor shall they visit it, nor shall it be made anymore.”  Jeremiah 3:14-16

Notice first that God is calling out a remnant, not the whole nation of Israel, and they will be brought to Zion, the city that God loves forever.  During this time they will be taught the truth of God from His Holy Word and no longer will they be deceived by strange and alien teachings.  Since observant Jews these days are considering making the Ark of the Covenant, this prophesy must refer to a future time when redeemed Jews dwell in the land, as promised to them, under the rule of their Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ, during the millennial reign of Christ.  With Christ as their Lord and Savior they have no need of the Ark of the Covenant because God will dwell with them.

7 And He said to me, “Son of man, this is the place of My throne and the place of the soles of My feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel forever.  No more shall the house of Israel defile My holy name, they nor their kings, by their harlotry or with the carcasses of their kings on their high places….10 ”Son of man, describe the temple to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and let them measure the pattern.”  Ezekiel 43:7 & 10

The New Testament church comprised of both Jew and Gentile alike have been redeemed by Christ so they can serve God in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter (law), bearing fruit for God’s glory, and have been married to Christ with the consummation of the marriage taking place at the marriage supper of the Lamb.

4 Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.  5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death.  6 But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.  Romans 7:4-6

The passage out of Matthew chapter twenty-five specifically deals with this event taking place and the need to be ready for the return of our Lord for His beloved Bride.  Five wise virgins were ready for their Lord and Savior, and five were foolish and unprepared for His return.

1 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the Bridegroom.  2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish.  3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.  5 But while the Bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.  6 And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the Bridegroom is coming; go out to meet Him!’”  7 “Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.  8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’”  9 “But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’” 10 “And while they went to buy, the Bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with Him to the wedding; and the door was shut.  11 Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’”  12 “But He answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’”  13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”  Matthew 25:1-13

Are you watching and waiting for the Lord’s imminent return so that you may join the blessed in supping with our Lord and Savior as His beloved Bride at His marriage supper?  Are you saved through faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died upon the cross for your sins, having shed His blood that you may be forgiven and has risen again from the dead that you may have eternal life and be filled with His Holy Spirit?  Or are you like the foolish virgins having a form of godliness but denying its power?  If so it isn’t too late to repent, to turn from your sin and turn to the Savior, putting your faith in Him for eternal life, being made ready for the rapture, and having the blessed privilege of being at the marriage supper of the Lamb.  Then you too can join in with Paul with his exuberant exclamation that follows this warning:

22 If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed.  O Lord, come!  1 Corinthians 16:22
