Christ vs. Antichrist

While listening to the Holy Bible on CD during my forays, the Lord encouraged me with the following passages that show the stark contrast between Christ and the Antichrist.  May God bless us as we consider His glorious Word given to us His children for our edification and strengthening in our faith.

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds; Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Being made so much better than the angels, as He hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For unto which of the angels said He at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to me a Son? And again, when He brings in the firstbegotten into the world, He saith, And let all the angels of God worship Him. And of the angels He saith, Who makes His angels spirits, and His ministers a flame of fire. But unto the Son He saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even Thy God, hath anointed Thee with the oil of gladness above Thy fellows. And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of Thine hands: They shall perish; but Thou remain; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; And as a vesture shalt Thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but Thou art the same, and Thy years shall not fail.  Hebrews 1:1-12

Jesus is God, the Son of the Father, the Creator of all.  Everything belongs to Him.  He exactly displays the glory of His Father, God.  He alone has reconciled us to His Father through the sacrifice of Himself by purging our sins when He died in our stead upon the cross taking the just judgment that we all deserve. Since He is God He rose again from the dead and He upholds all things by the Word of His power, the truth.  Jesus Christ is worthy of all worship and adoration and the hosts of heaven venerate and extol His glorious holiness and deity.  He as God rules forever over all because He despises iniquity, or lawlessness, but love righteousness, because He is righteous God.  Since He is the originator of the universe, its Creator, He will also bring about its demise at the appointed time and set up new heavens and earth wherein righteousness dwells.  These attributes that belong to Jesus Christ cannot ever be duplicated by any.  They are unique to Him because He is God the Son of God.  Oh how He alone deserves all of our worship and praise.  This is contrasted with the attributes of the Antichrist from the following passage.

And now ye know what withholds that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only He who now restrains will do so, until He be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of His mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians 2:6-12

The Antichrist is a created being who is put into power by Satan through Satan’s lying signs and wonders.  The Antichrist leads the whole world astray, all those who refuse to receive the love of the truth, the Word of God.  This deceiver upholds and supports all that is wicked and evil because he loves lawlessness and hate righteousness, therefore he opposes anything that supports the truth about Jesus Christ and the truth of the Scriptures.  The Antichrist will presume to abrogate divine powers to himself, but Jesus Christ will destroy him by the breath of His mouth and His appearing when He returns, proving that all that the Antichrist has impersonated is false and empty.   The coming of the Antichrist is God’s judgment upon those who reject Jesus Christ and refuse to repent of their sin and worship and follow Him and will happen according to His timetable.  God sent His Son as Savior of the world and has permitted the appearance of the Antichrist as His judgment upon sinners who reject His Son.

18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know it is the last hour.  1 John 2:18

This post is part one of a series that was written a little over a year ago. In this series we see the wonder and glory of Jesus Christ, and the wicked deceit of the Antichrist. May we be ready for the soon return of our glorious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen!

  2. That is a very good comparison from these 2 epistles. Thanks for re-sharing this, and reminding us that it is Christ Who will be victorious! Praise the Lord!
