Found in the nineteenth chapter of Revelation, after the wrath of God had been poured out on the world of unbelievers full force and John had almost worshiped the angel who had shown him the things to come, the angel said to John not to worship him and then explained the purpose of prophecy.
“See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Revelation 19:10
The whole of Scripture concerns itself with Jesus Christ from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21.
He is the Creator (Genesis 1:1-Genesis 2:2, John 1:1-3, Colossians 1:15-17), He is the Judge (Genesis 18:1-19:24, Acts 17:31, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8, Revelation 19:11-21), He is the Savior (Exodus 12:1-13, 1 Corinthians 5:7, Acts 4:11-12, 1 John 4:14, Revelation 1:5), and He is our Righteousness (Jeremiah 23:6 and 33:16, 1 Corinthians 1:30, 2 Corinthians 5:21).
Jesus Christ is our all in all.
15 And the word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “this was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.'” 16 And of His fullness we have all received and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. John 1:15-17
4 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches, He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 “If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 “By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. 9 As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.” John 15:4-9
For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. Colossians 2:9-10.
He is our supply so that we live to the glory of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ.
We must make sure that we study the Scriptures so we can come to know and love our Savior Jesus Christ more and more. Any reason for knowing the Word of God other than knowing Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and pleasing Him is superfluous. Jesus warned the Jews of His day that their study of Scripture was barren because they would not come to Him.
39 “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. 40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.” John 5:39-40
Let us return to the Bible over and over again to see the wonder and glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the wonder and glory of the eternal life He has given to us.
